Introduction
VOID was born from a deeply personal moment — the silence that follows missing someone you can no longer reach.
It came from thinking about a woman I once cared for deeply, yet realizing there was nothing left to hold on to except acceptance.
That emotion — quiet, heavy, but strangely peaceful — became the foundation of this project.Every layer of sound represents a stage of letting go: the initial longing, the dissonance of reality, and finally, the calm that comes with surrender.
Through this process, I learned that design and music share the same truth — both are ways of understanding what cannot be spoken.
Inspiration
VOID was born from a very human place — the quiet ache of missing someone I couldn’t reach anymore. It wasn’t heartbreak in its rawest form, but rather the stillness that follows acceptance. I wanted to capture that fragile peace — when love no longer asks for anything, it just lingers like air.
The emotional seed came from the songs that held the same kind of sincerity: “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt, “Close To You” by The Carpenters, and “Stay” by Palmy. Each of these songs carries a kind of honesty I deeply connect with — the moment when love turns from desire into quiet understanding. I wanted VOID to feel like that moment, frozen in time, without words — just resonance.
Concept Design
The project started with a question: Can emotion be designed like a product?
Instead of writing lyrics, I mapped out emotional states — longing, confusion, surrender, peace — and structured them as an experience flow. Each section of the song represents a step in emotional UX, like a user journey through letting go. The composition isn’t built on melody; it’s built on tension and release, on negative space and breath.
In VOID, silence is not absence — it’s the main character. It’s what remains after the sound fades, and it holds meaning. The project became an experiment in transforming an emotion into a designed system: every frequency, every pause, every shift of texture had intent.
Sound Design & Production
The sound design of VOID began with something intimate and real — a single guitar recording captured in my home studio. I recorded raw guitar tones at night, letting the natural imperfections and background ambience become part of the texture. The instrument wasn’t meant to lead the melody, but to carry the emotion — each note fading like a quiet thought that never found its answer.
After recording, I processed the guitar through Suno, using AI-assisted sound modelling to deconstruct and rebuild its tone. Suno helped transform the acoustic warmth into evolving layers — from delicate harmonics to ambient drone patterns. The result blurred the line between human and machine: an organic sound reborn through technology.
I treated the processed guitar layers as the emotional backbone of the track. Ambient synths and reversed reverb were then added around it, not to overpower, but to echo the emptiness between notes. Silence became just as important as sound — every pause was intentional, creating rhythm through absence.
Technically, I worked in layering the Suno-processed guitars with granular textures and spatial effects. Mixing was about restraint — removing until only what felt true remained. The final soundscape feels like a conversation between human memory and digital reflection, between something once felt and something newly created.

Distribution & Continuity
Once finished, VOID was released via DistroKid, distributed across Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. Lyrics were synced through Musixmatch, making the song part of a larger system of metadata and accessibility.
Later, VOID evolved into a creative case study in my UX Sound Design — a framework exploring how emotional design can merge with sonic systems and product thinking.
Reflection
VOID isn’t a song about sadness — it’s about clarity. It represents the exact point where emotion stops demanding and starts understanding. The process taught me that creation and healing follow the same principle: to simplify until only truth remains.
Through this project, I realised that art and design share a single language — both are methods of making sense of what can’t be spoken.
The inspiration may have come from love I couldn’t keep, but the result became something lasting: a space where silence turns into sound, and emptiness becomes a form of beauty.
